Many people aim to achieve a balance between work and other parts of lives，but few people achieve it. What are the causes of the problems ? How to overcome it？
The balance between life and work has long been a problem that exhausts working individuals in this century. While various hypotheses have been put forward to explain the issue, I tend to analyze this problem from both individual and corporate aspect and provide some possible solutions.
From my perspective,why the majority fail to handle the relationship between companies and families is a symptom of problem to which I see the financial pressure as a main answer.Living in a consumer society, many individuals are inundated with a multitude of tasks, most of which are inextricably bound up with money, whether these be mortgage, private cars, medical insurance, and tuition fees for children. Only by pushing themselves to be workaholics can they earn more money to pay all bills.
Another problem that traps employees in the office might sound ridiculous but true – many bosses tend to equate the number of working hours with the performance of their underlings, which leads to the curse on employees in many businesses. One notorious example is the 996 mode that irritates millions of IT practitioners in China, meaning 9 am to 9 pm, 6 working days a week. What a pipe dream to talk about family life in a world moving in this direction!
Fortunately, this does not mean the end of the world for working adults and their families, while there are some measures we can implement to liberate employees from toiling. One option is for the government to initiate policy of tax reduction to those live on tight budget, therefore they might less likely to hunt for another part-time job just for more money. As well as a tax policy, a more stringent law against exploitation should be legislated, which will prohibit compulsory long working hours. Even awareness campaigns can play a part: the media could contribute to publicizing the long-term effects of work-life balance on improving work efficiency and productivity.
In conclusion, it looks to me that the inequality between work and private life is a complicated problem that can be attributed to finance and cognition, both of which need to be handled by the joint efforts of administration and the media.
